The school becomes the 13th school to join the FAA program that fast-tracks students to become air traffic controllers.
U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy announced the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) partnership with Shenandoah University. The Virginia college will join the Enhanced Air Traffic – Collegiate Training Initiative (E-CTI) as its 13th certified school. The program fast-tracks students on the path to becoming air traffic controllers by providing instruction at on-site facilities, replacing the requirement for training at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.
“Partnering with Shenandoah University marks another vital step in our ongoing commitment to strengthen and modernize the air traffic controller pipeline,” said FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford. “The safety of our National Airspace System is our top priority, and expanding the Enhanced AT-CTI program allows us to train high-caliber talent and get well-qualified controllers into our facilities faster without compromising on safety.”
